Developed by PAL Robotics, REEM is a humanoid service robot that can be used for a variety of purposes. REEM has an autonomous navigation system, face and voice recognition system, and a user-friendly touchscreen to entertain and help people in public environments.
REEM has a height of 1.7 m with 22 degrees of freedom. The robot’s upper part consists of a torso that has a touchscreem, a motorized head, and two motorized arms. REEM can move at 5 km/h with the help of a mobile base with wheels. A small platform to transport objects is also attached to the robot. REEM is equipped with a lithium battery that lasts for about 8 hours.
REEM not only helps people as a guide or amuses them as an entertainer, but it also transports small packages. The dynamic information point of the service robot can be used for a number of multimedia applications including calling up various information (airline travel times, nearby restaurants, weather, etc…), displaying a map of the surrounding region and offering tele-assistance through video conferencing.
From hotels, trade shows, museums, shopping malls and special events to care centers, hospitals and airports, REEM can be used in a wide variety of public spaces.
