RIBA

 RIBA, created by RIKEN and Tokai Rubber, has made it easier for medical professionals and institutions to care for patients. RIBA is an assisting humanoid robot that is designed to help with the transportation of patients from one place to another (i.e. wheelchair to bed). He is able to track a person using sound and vision sensors.

He first detects the person’s position via facial recognition and then carries the person to the destination. RIBA can carry up to 61 kilograms and is covered with soft materials so as not to cause discomfort to patients. Also, RIKEN has designed him with a friendly bear-like appearance to prevent scaring children.
