ROBISUKE is a humanoid robot designed by WASEDA University’s Kobayashi Lab in 2003. Kobayashi Lab wanted to create a natural conversational robot. Walking is almost perfectly executed by robots currently, and now robot designers are on their way to improving robot speech.

ROBISUKE does not focus on the content of the conversation but rather the rhythm of it. This robot is able to measure the tone and expression of the person it is speaking with. Aside from speech, gaze, and expression recognition, it can also interpret nodding, shaking, and other gestures using gesture recognition. ROBISUKE can learn new words too, basing their meanings on the usage of the words in the conversation.

    Features:

    • Height: 100 centimeters
    • Weight: 40 kilograms
    • Speech recognition
    • Gaze and facial recognition
    • Gesture recognition
    • Sense of rhythm
    • Capable of learning new words
