ROBITA
ROBITA was the first communication robot designed by the Kobayashi Lab of WASEDA University back in 1999. ROBITA is a humanoid robot intended for research on improving the natural flow of conversation between humans and robots.
ROBITA is not just a normal conversational robot, as researchers designed ROBITA to adapt and participate in group conversations. This is only possible if the robot “knows” the right time to enter the conversation. Fortunately, Kobayashi Lab installed sound localization as well as facial recognition to help ROBITA.
