Toshiba launched its newest version in the ApriAlpha robot series, the ApriAlpha Sharp Ear. As the name says, Toshiba incorporated its advanced voice capture technology into this human partner robot. With a diameter of 380 millimeters and a height of 430 millimeters, ApriAlpha can easily move around without bumping into the household furniture. Cleverly, 6 microphones have been placed throughout the body of ApriAlpha Sharp Ear.
The robot has the ability to understand and follow voice commands. It also has the amazing ability to remember all the voices coming from different people talking at the same time and respond to them continuously. Even if one is talking in the middle of a noisy environment, ApriAlpha Sharp Ear has that rare ability to filter that specific voice and respond to it instantly.
Just like the older versions, ApriAlpha has a pair of friendly eyes that can remember faces. Although it has advanced hearing technology, this robot can also rely on its eyes. One can just say the command, and then voila! ApriApha just turned the TV or the air on. It can also read emails out loud and give weather forecast.
