Dubbed Russia’s first working robot, AR-400 impressed commuters at the Riga train station when it greeted them on behalf of its creators - the Android Robotics Corporation, based in Moscow.
AR-400, a humanoid robot capable of speech synthesis, was able to introduce itself, state its height and weight, and thank travelers for their attention. Its capabilities make it suitable for use as a receptionist robot in places such as offices, restaurants, and hotels.
The creators of AR-400 planned to have it and several of its prototypes recognized as replacements for gandydancers, the people who work on and maintain railroads. These humanoids can also be utilized for jobs that are dangerous for people to perform, such as the coupling and uncoupling of railway cars.
