General Robotix Inc., together with the Kawada Industries Inc., have collaborated and developed a new, life-size, torso, humanoid robot platform, which they call the HIRO robot.

Short for Human Interactive Robot, HIRO can pass for a real human when suited with a synthetic skin. This is because its movements are similar to that of a human.

With this upper torso robot, its Japanese developers were able to develop vital technologies for the next generation robotics, which include; safety devices, image processing and voice recognition, allowing it to work in a real human setting.

These features make the HIRO robot suited to be a research tool used to develop future generation of robotic systems.

    HIRO Features:

    • Powered by Windows XP
    • Exterior camera
    • Environment recognition
    • Camera
    • Image recognition
