IRT Humanoid

  • Tokyo University has developed a new humanoid robot called the Information and Robot Technology (IRT). Its aim is to help the old and ageing society of the community.

    IRT is a full-scale bipedal humanoid robot whose body is covered in soft latex foam while its head, hand and feet are wrapped in paper covering. It has 38 DOF; 3 on its neck, 7 on each arm, 1 on its waist, 6 in each leg, and 8 on each fingers and toes.

    IRT is equipped with gyro sensors installed in its waist, 6-axis force sensors in its feet and 2 extra force sensors in each arm.
