  • Yasuo Kuniyoshi of the Electrotechnical Laboratory and the Japanese Science and Technology Agency together created “Jack”, an ETL humanoid robot. The name was taken from a movie with the same name, starring Robin Williams.

According to its researchers and developers, the purpose of creating Jack was to study the global dynamics, which states: 'a movement in a robot requires no explicit programming every moment'. With this in mind, Jack is aimed to autonomously help the growing and aging population of Japan.

Additionally, to make it even more durable, Jack’s body is made up of aluminium. It stands 1.6 meters tall and weighs 60 kilograms. As a research vehicle, sensors and equipment are installed extensively to make it even more efficient.

    Jack Features:

    • Stereo Vision
    • CCD Video Cameras
    • Microphones
    • Position Sensors
    • Aluminium body
