M3 SYNCHY
The third in the M3 series, Osaka University’s M3 Synchy is a humanoid robot designed for human and robot communication. It stands 30cm tall and weighs 2.5kg, with 17 degrees of freedom (3 in each eye, 3 in its neck, 2 in its waist and 3 in each arm).
Synchy, or synchronized communication, is equipped with software that makes it possible for it to perform object recognition, speech recognition, and speech synthesis. It also has a CCD camera mounted on its head, 2 microphones, a speaker and 15 LEDs.
Synchy was developed to help scientists understand verbal and non-verbal communication, especially the use of expressive face and arm gestures.
