  • The Information and Technology Research Initiative of the University of Tokyo created a little robotic machine designed to care for the elderly. Named Mamoru, or Momoru-Kun (Little Protector), it stands only 40 centimeters tall and weighs 3.8 kilograms.  With four joints, two in the neck and one in each arm, Momoru is able to get an object for its elderly owner.

It is equipped with a wide-angle camera, microphone, and speakers. The installed image recognition software enables it to tell where specific objects are, specifically items that may be lost or misplaced. It can also remind its owner when it is time to take their medications. Momoru robot is beneficial for the elderly and sick people who lack a good memory.
