After the initial success with their much larger RIC robot, Japanese robotics distributor RT Corporation made a bold move with one of their brand new humanoid robots that uses Microsoft’s Kinect sensor, the Robot In Character – 30 (RIC-30).

RT Corporation’s RIC-30 robot is installed with the Kinect sensor, which allows it to mimic human body movement. This new humanoid robot from the Japanese company stands 82 centimeters tall and weighs 720 grams. It is boasted to be easily manipulated and controlled.

Furthermore, this Japanese humanoid robot utilizes just 16 Futaba RS304MD servos, which are expandable and also utilized by other robots like the G-DOG and JO-ZERO. The RIC-30 robot is also compatible with the Kinect and V-Sido software.

As the name suggests, the RIC-30 robot kit can be programmed with specific voices and movements that suit a character’s persona, or can be used to tailor fit the need of a client. Aside from marketing this brand new humanoid robot, the Japanese company is using this robot for short-term events and rents the robot out to other companies for promotional and marketing gimmicks like expositions and grand openings.
