  • Created in 2009 by Tomotaka Takahashi of Kyoto University’s Robo Garage, ROPID is a tiny robot with a name derived from the combination of robot and rapid. True to its name, this bipedal robot is made from carbon and plastic materials and utilizes the belt link synchronized leg system.

This robot can walk, run, and jump faster than other robots developed along the same line. It responds to voice commands and has a cute mouth that moves as it speaks.

ROPID has a noise-cancelling chip installed in its system, allowing it to hear voice instructions clearly. Its big eyes are reminiscent of the eyes of Japanese anime characters, a feature that makes it more appealing to the public.
