  • Vstone has developed a pint-sized research platform robot that is almost identical to their previous robot, the M3-Synchy, that they designed together with the Advanced Telecommunication Research Institute. This latest robot is called the RPC-S1.

Despite lacking any legs and its minute size of only 30 centimeters (12 inches), this small humanoid robot has 17 Degrees of Freedom, or DOF. When compared to the M3-Synchy robot, the head of the RPC-S1 is slightly smaller and less detailed. Its arms and body are covered with foam rubber.

One of the features that sets this robot apart from other robots of its kind is its eyes, which are capable of moving independently from its head and can rotate regardless of its head movement. This makes it possible for the RPC-S1 robot to study gaze direction when it interacts, and makes up for having a less detailed head.

Just like some other robots, it is capable of recognizing objects, thanks to its camera that is used for image recognition. A dual microphone makes it possible for this small and cute humanoid robot to recognize voices, while a speaker emits the sounds it can produce.

Though small and portable, this Japanese robot retains its image and voice recognition functionality.
