In 1993, the Tmsuk Company developed a humanoid robot with the aim of replacing human receptionists; however, this caused an uproar, not to mention the higher cost of maintaining the TMSUK-1 as compared to a real human receptionist. Nonetheless, the robot attracted much public attention, with several businesses wanting to have this robot in its company.
