Short for Tool Operating Tool, the TOT Robot was the brainchild of the Japanese robotics laboratory, Jouhou System Kougaku Laboratory or the JSK Laboratory of the University of Tokyo in Japan way back in 2004.
This Japanese remote-controlled humanoid robot can use simple tools and can navigate its surrounding using the CCD camera mounted in its head. This camera, being a visual sensor, also serves as the humanoid’s eyes, allowing it to see its environment when navigating.
Standing at just 43 cm and weighing only 2.1 Kg, this humanoid robot has 37 degrees of freedom (DOF).
