E3 is a biped humanoid robot developed by Honda in 1991 and is designed to walk faster than Honda’s older E Series robots.
Weighing 86 kilograms and standing at 136.3 centimeters, the prototype E3 robot walks at 3 kilometers per hour which is the average speed of a walking human. It utilizes 12 degrees of freedom.
Although its walking capability is not effective on uneven surfaces, E3 robot was the most advanced biped robot of that time which is a true developmental milestone in the world of robotics.
